question.. what would the impact be on customer ids with auto generated numbers -- when the sequence has been screwed up by the entry personnel and there are already transactions associated with that new sequence number? I assume the invoices submitted in history will not match the ones potentially submitted to the customer.. but is that the most impact?

NetSuite uses internal id's of records.
These are static and sequential, cannot be altered on a record.
So in terms of the system it's cosmetic I'd say.
In day to day use you might find users selecting the wrong entity and prints that rely on that detail also may become confusing.

I don't think Internal ID's are actually sequential dispute NetSuite using that term in their documentation

@michoel At least they are unique, at least across record type :)

*the internalid's increment in an upwardly positive way and there might be gaps in those numbers but they are unique to the type. Better? 🤣

thanks all for your input.. I dont think the custom generated ids.. matter other than the id may be different if an item is invoiced and a pdf has been generated and sent to a customer.. changing the system generated customer id would not reflect the original pdf so I will not change it.. but if it did not have any transactions against that record I could have modified the id with the override and be back on the system sequencing.. the next customer id would be 1207:2
