I also haven't tried it. Your requirement is a bit nerve-wracking actually. What if you compare both the length of the array and the values of the line items. For example, does item 1 exists on both record objects? Then check, is item 1 removed from old record and not added as new line item on the new record. But I guess this approach is only useful if you're aiming to know what changed on the line items.
