Is this really not possible? We have multiple local GAAP GL accounts (assigned to the same Accounting Context) BOTH to be mapped to a single global GL account. It does not seem possible to link multiple local GL accounts from the same accounting context to 1 global GL account. I've explored multi-book accounting but even the chart of account mapping wouldn't work, I think.
k
correct. it is one to one
with MB (full MB with different COA) it is possible though.
l
How is it possible with full MB though? I notice that we can restrict a GL account to a specific accounting book and use COA mapping feature to route it to a different GL account for another book. In this case, we have to have 2 global accounts. And it is not the accounting context that does the mapping but the COA mapping feature of full MB. Is my understanding correct? Thanks as always!

you can have fully different COA in a secondary book. Yes, you tie accounts to your primary book, but because you would always have Cash, AR, AP, etc. you can line up two COAs. usually France comes to mind with its own COA because of the stat reqs

Thank you. Sorry, I just wanted to clarify. So accounting context is irrelevant now in your MB example? We will create the local account as a regular account but linked to the secondary book and not as an accounting context value?
k
you can do both when you have full MB
l
Yeah, I can do both. Sorry, I may not be clear. How do I associate multiple local accounts to a single global GL account? With accounting Context is not possible. Would I need then to create ACTUAL GL accounts for the local accounts and then limit them to the secondary book and create a global GL account and then limit it to the primary book. Then, create a COA mapping rule to automatically use one of those local accounts in the secondary book when I use the global GL account in certain instances? In my case, the accounting context is already irrelevant? I have to use create ACTUAL GL accounts and use the COA mapping rules of full MB?

you can use Global Account Mapping for that. yes, you need to have source account and destination account for mapping, so yes, actual GL accounts. these accounts can be book specific, book + sub specific, or whatever combination you want. you can map ANY acct type to ANY acct type (with a few rear exceptions).

Thank you
