@karlenigma your search.lookupFields should work fine with search.Type.ITEM as the type but I don't think it will return the value needed to submit fields on the item. You could use a hardcoded lookup like mentioned here http://blog.prolecto.com/2016/02/21/quick-netsuite-utility-function-load-item-record/ or like I said doing a search for your item like: search.create({ type: search.Type.ITEM, filters: ['internalid', 'is', internalId] }); and then using result.recordType to get the type needed for submitting fields.
