in a saved search formula column, is it possible to "cache" an expression/calculation for use multiple times within that same formula (so that it doesn't have to be calculated more than once)

calculate it yourself and harcode it? :joy:   but seriously, I don't think so, AFAIK.

The typical way I see something similar being done is using a search, custom fields, and script/workflow to write this value to the record, and then sourcing the new field with the value into the formulas.  Possibly more trouble than it's worth though, depending on your use case
