Using the ODBC connector - must one be proficient in SQL? Can you build any reports or must a BI tool be used? How are folks using ODBC?
e
• Proficient in SQL: Yes (But SQL is somewhat easy) • Must a BI tool be used? You can connect with Workbench or DBeaver etc to create the queries and see the results, then export to CSV if needed, but for non technical users maybe an external BI tool is just better. Depend on the use case.

Thanks, so it's possible to use a tool like Tableau (since we have this) to build queries rather than write sql? It would be used by our finance folks with limited technical knowledge.

I recently explored connecting to NS in Excel using ODBC, took a bit, but got there. If you connect to NetSuite2.com you can build your SQL in Tim's excellent query tool and the same queries work for ODBC. (just putting that there for you as a reference not suggesting an approach to what you're doing) šŸ™‚

Never used Tableau <> NetSuite. NetSuite has his own ODBC driver. If you can use that with Tableau, then you are ready to go.
