Is there a way to have a single dropdown list that is used for multiple records however for one of the records, only show 5 out of the 10 in the dropdown as visible options, and on the other record, all 10?

What kind of record is the list?

and what kind of records is the dropdown field on? (i.e. transactions, custom records, items, etc)
