Like your normal approver is OOO, solutions to having someone else approve in their place that isn't going in and having an admin change the workflow?
d
you're in luck, this was discussed just the other day: https://netsuiteprofessionals.slack.com/archives/C298P0BCK/p1694260796733389

Lots of work, but can be done. I have: 1. A custom field in the employee record with the Delegation 2. A custom record with the Delegate From, Delegate To, Start Date, End Date 3. A custom field in the transaction, "Secondary Approver" so I have two possible approvers for a single record (see point 5 next) 4. A mix of Workflows and Scripts to assign the delegation to transaction records, send reminders, etc. 5. A don't simply replace the Next Approver with the delegate, because sometimes the delegated employee don't approve on time! Then the original approver comes from OOO see the pending approvals, etc.

What are the scripts? I'm not a coder ๐Ÿ˜“
have you heard of the SuiteSolutions Advanced Approvals Employee Delegation?

at one company I had a custom check box for OOO and delegation field. If that box was checked workflow would set the employee listed on that delegation field or if it is empty set the approver's supervisor as the approver. At other company built 2 custom record to hold the OOO employees designated delegation and a child records to grab OOO range from the employees calendar. Used 2 scheduled workflows (as far as I can recall) to manage the delegation. It was quite a elegant process employee could manage their own delegation if the enter their OOO in the Netsuite calendar.

Something very similar to @Sam-I-Am was my initial setup... But the Risk and Compliance department were unhappy about it, because we have complex rules about approvers: amount limits, department restrictions, user "level" restrictions to set up the delegation...
s
I solve that by using approval limits in the employee records so the workflow would go up the approval limit ladder until exhausted
