Does anyone know if it is possible to set the created by field on an invoice after it has been created? I know it is set if you transform the sales order to an invoice, but I have a third party script that creates invoices and sometimes I need to set the created by to link it to a sales order.

You cannot change the native createdfrom field. You might have to use a custom field to establish the link.
