@erictgrubaugh is correct @oceancloud that client scripts don't work in view mode, in that the entry points are never triggered there. You can create an inline html field on the record in beforeLoad and include some

<script>

tags that have some javascript in them, but it's pretty hacky. I don't see another way to fire an alert on loading a record in view mode, though.
