I don't think requestURL needs the domain when it's requesting an internal resource like a Suitelet or Record, but even so,

resolveURL

provides the

displayMode

parameter which you can use to return an External URL, which would include the domain. One more reason to switch to 2.0:

N/url#resolveDomain
