does anyone know how to edit the checkout screens / pages in suitecommerce basic?
s
What do you want to do?
w
I want to move the payment method from the bottom closer to the top, or nested underneath the cart
This is what they see when they begin checking out... with nothing telling them to scroll down to find the payment section... and if there's an issue with their payment method, they aren't able to see it because it's buried below
s
Hmm, without being a developer that’s not something you can change
w
i mean, i can code... html / css.
s
So there is some deliberate reason for that: shipping methods are often not generated until a shipping address is entered
This is also partly why checkouts are split onto numerous step groups because one-page checkouts are often overloaded with info
w
well, even if i can't change the layout.. i could add some text with an anchor link that says "checkout not working? click here." or "be sure to double check payment method"
if i could change this to be a multi-step thing I would do that immediately. i just don't know how to access this portion of netsuite / suitecommerce
s
As for coding, the level of expertise required would be to write your own extension that reads the checkout step group info and re-orders it before rendering
w
so netsuite doesnt have an option to change from single step to multistep?
s
You may prefer standard checkout (I personally prefer it)
w
i definitely want to make that change!!!
where in the backend is this?
s
Instructions are on the page
1. Go to Commerce > Websites > Configuration. 2. Select the website and domain you want to configure. 3. On the Checkout tab, select a checkout flow from the Checkout Steps field. 4. Click Save.

ps; glad you guys have a dev relations person in here. thank you for engaging - it's been miserable trying to learn this platform... 😂
s
Haha
I officially stopped doing it a couple years ago but still hang out here anyway
w
oh wow. the way you referred to "we offer" (i realize now was probably copy / paste) ... made me think yah worked with oracle or netsuite lol
s
I do
Just a different role
outbound product management
So, still important to talk to customers
w
aha. very cool. well, either way... thank you very very much. the support for this product is miserable at best
my only recourse has been to create tickets - and 9/10 times i don't find a resolution that way either. =
