I need to add the sales order number in the payment link successful payment email template. I have tried createdfrom. Any suggestion?

{tranid} should work

${transaction.apply[0].createdFrom is working but it is printing the internal ID of the sales order.

just {tranid} should give you SO number

It's the email template from the payment.
