We are in the process of merging with a larger company, and historically we have used the 3 character ISO currency codes as our currency names, while the other company uses the US English long names: US Dollars instead of USD, British pounds instead of GBP, etc. The new accounting manager wants to use the long names going forward, however we display the currency names (which just happen to match the currency code) on our localized transaction forms now. Using the english currency names in a German or Italian document seems liek it could cause confusion. What options are there for localizing currency names so we can keep the long name, but have it properly translated on any localized PDF’s?

Did you ever work with Translation Collections? I used it for translating labels/footer texts and was quite happy. It is also supported in SDF. Basically you can use currency codes as Keys and currency names as Text for different languages enabled in the account.

Yes, we actually use translation collections throughout most of our PDF templates now. Thanks for that suggestion! I suppose we could create a translation collection with a key for each currency, mirroring the accounting list. Although if the currency code is available, we could actually just continue to use that, as it would be the same as what we have already been doing, and customers are fine with it. I’ll have to see what is available.
