My company is currently looking into the SuiteBilling module. Does anyone here in the SAAS industry use this? If so, what are the advantages/disadvantages? It seems to be advantageous for recurring payments, though I am unsure of the ease of implementing... Thanks in advance!
k
Consideration - If you have ARM implementing SuiteBilling equals ARM re-implementation since all items need to be reconfigured. Also, there is #CMD3QKJ4R channel, FYI
j
I had a suspicion of this.... does your company use this? @Karina
k
@Jackie Moon - I am a consultant, I implement ARM and SB
on this note - kits (bundles) are also not available in SB
j
We do not utilize kits so that is a non-issue
@Karina From your experience, what would be a realistic timeline for re-implementing ARM and then implementing SB?
And do your customers typically have any other walls they run into during implementation of SB besides re-implementing ARM?
k
well, there are other considerations of course (do you really need SB), but mainly it is whether how hard it is to re-implement it and how much it is going to cost the customer
to answer your first question though - SB is ARM reimplementation in itself, so it is not a two step process. Timing depends how complex your item structure is and how variable your billing requirements are
j
We have anywhere between 12, 24, and 36 month subscription plans for our product(s) Our items are rather simple I would say, a mix of user licenses, service/support, and our software products themselves. Does this give you enough info for an estimate on how long a timeline would be for implementing?
k
Not really, hate to shoot from the hip. But a proper SB implementation can take at least 3 months (a very simple one) to up to a year (or more) depending on complexity. Done, of course in sandbox first, so no impact to current processes. One of the biggest undertakings is data migration, new objects like subscription items or billing accounts need to be established, etc. Also, new API connections if you currently have them need to be set up as well. Not simple process, and planning and good consultants are the keys
j
Gotcha, this is all helpful information, thank you!

@Jackie Moon do your subscription products have a fixed renewal amount every month? How often do you encounter uplifts and price increases? This is an important consideration.
j
I would say annually to all of the above @Jake Kleiner
j
Got it. NSSB does a decent job with fixed cost subscriptions and annual uplifts. If there a month-over-month changes, it can reach limitations as this can only be updated daily. Fortunately, it doesn’t sound like a current issue with your requirements.
