i think it might be able to be done, but using a few different scripts: - client script to update the form and add the tab - suitelet to be brought in by the tab, load any initial information from the outside service. also handle any ajax interactions - script to attach to the suitelet to handle ajax requests or other jquery interactions this is assuming the outside service can handle REST requests, but that would allow you to transfer netsuite information to it
