The scheduled maintenance message of NS states this: “Processes scheduled to run in your account could also be affected.“. Does this mean that scheduled workflows and scripts may not run? It’s not guaranteed but it may happen. Has anyone actually experienced that?

Never experienced it no - but I have always made a habit of regression testing, checking logs etc. - you really need to and I guess this is what they are hinting at
This is even more important for external stuff like Zones AP automation or Avalara
