Good afternoon, We have been just acquired by another company that is using Netsuite as well. One of the alternatives we might have is to stay in our current Netsuite instance and once a month transfer our financial data to their Netsuite OneWorld. Do any of you have experience with something like this?

Last year we acquired a company using NetSuite. I did a few Customer/vendor saved searches then migrated them in as a new Sunsidiary at the end of a month. It suited us to bring their processes and reporting inline within the wider business. After we had all the history out of their old NS account we let that expire. Operationally it was a big saving.

Thanks a lot for the info.

Yeah, this has happened to clients of mine a few times - they always end up merging in the end because the powers that be realize they don't want to be paying for two separate systems. Often there's a period of time where they do operate like you said, just do a month end TB load or something to capture true financials in the New NetSuite, but everyone keeps operating in the old NS for a while. It can be a decent-sized effort to move you off your system, depending on how much customization you're used to in your current account, you may need to do testing/large amounts of data migration, etc, but the cost savings of only 1 netsuite instance is usually worth it in the end.

@mescalante The added advantage is if you're already using some integrator - Celigo, UI Path or Workato, connectivity between the two is extremely simple via the basis of tokens, then just the matter of data mapping. If you aren't using those integrators however, you'd probably be looking at either manual search exports and then CSV imports (say monthly) or if it's one way building a scheduled call (say via a a suitelet) to your parent's restlet monthly. Both very very do-able.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. I am not a finance person, I am on the Netsuite admin side, and I was wondering what financial data we will need to transfer from our Netsuite to their Netsuite OneWorld one a month. Any ideas?

Regarding the financial data, go with the balances and no details. We use a CSV import to carry EOM balances to another instance for consolidated financials. Migrating transactions (and the limitations they each have) is an undertaking to say the least.
IPAAS works well to move data between two netsuite instances (Jitterbit is what we use). My preference is to use CSV imports b/c the data needs to be reviewed (sometimes restructured), conditioned, and approved prior to import. We also put limits on how much data we bring over as "active" Generally 3 years tends to be the rule.
One last thing....there is an option called "Caretaker" Mode for Netsuite. It basically places your instance of Netsuite into a read-only mode. This works well so folks can go back as needed vs just turning it off and losing access. It is something that you have to request through your sales rep...the good news is that it is a fraction of the cost of an "active" account.

Thank you again for all this valuable information. I really appreciate it.
