Does anyone know if you can make regular journals directly into an elimination sub?

yes you can't post manually to the intercompany AR and AP accounts

Are you trying to recreate intercompany entries?

You can post to the regular AR and AP accounts though

Why not just enter historical balances?

the way we did this is the historical intercompany AP/AR movements were loaded to separate Current Asset and Current LIability accounts, along with the elimination entites. Once we went live on Netsuite, we transferred the balances to the proper intercompany AP/AR accounts

@Jon Kears so for historical balances in AP/AR you just left them in current asset and current liability accounts? and then moved them only for g-live?

The way to handle that is to post an ICJE between the subs with the appropriate configuration for elimination @Nicolas Bean
