@Chap Moore @Kevin Acevedo Actually - Chap's idea gives me another idea - you could have a role on the users that has the permission to override period restrictions - but can only touch transaction types that they need. Bang. Now you have a role that allows them to do what they need to if they need it - but otherwise they can use their standard role. Much simpler and no script required.

@Chap Moore @KevinJ of Kansas Thank you for your suggestions. I will test out doing it with a calendar driven lock, that might make it close to what I am trying to do. Otherwise I will see and try to learn about using a Map Reduce script to add the permission for overriding for a specific amount of time. Both of your suggestions are very much appreciated!
