Hi all. Anybody know why I get an "Invalid parent key" on my csv import for COA even though the account for parent exists and not inactive? The account was Retained Earnings.
n
If you are doing it as text, you need ot be specific on the spacing between the levels ie Top level [space][colon][space]Account name. Top Level:Account will fail , Top Level : Account will pass. OR are you matching Text to an Internal ID? If in doubt you can always import bu Internal ID which is Unique.
m
Try creating one account via the UI instead of import. How you input the value for the parent field in the form is the way to format your data in your CSV file for import.
k
@Netsuite Tragic I did all the approaches especially the internal ID because you know...can't tust text lol.
@Mars I did try to create an account and choosing the account as parent but it doesn't show up in the drop down list
n
If you cannot select the parent in the UI, then the Import wont either. Is the parent set to "Active"?
k
Yes it is
Also, this account is Equity
I checked the drop down account types available for parent for new accounts and I saw that Equity is not an option
Is this standard behavior for NS? Or is there some feature that has been disabled?
m
you should really show a screenshot of what you are saying otherwise hard to guess what's happening
show the part where equity is not shown as an option

is the internal ID of the account in question 52?
k
@Karina yes it is. System-generated.
k
you cannot make it a summary account, it is set up like that systematically. be aware of playing with that - there is RE functionality associated with this account as well
k
Oh. That makes sense.
Thanks!
m
what we did in that case is create a separate parent then make that system-generated account 52 as a subaccount of the parent equity account
