Can anyone (possibly specific to UK) tell me if "Cost Centres" in regular accounting terms equate to departments in Netsuite?

We have renamed the "Class" segment to "Cost Centre", but it's essentially the same thing. Just another segment

We've previously done final accounting outside of Netsuite, but our accountant wants to start doing everything in NS. They're asking for information on Cost Centre usage, but Department was used for sub-brand segregation when we went live years ago. I'm not sure whether we're about to encounter a major issue, or if there's some work around.

There are 2 other segments you can use. Or you can create a custom segment. You're not going to have a problem

Yes @Dominic B, they are - In the UK Departments are very much used as "cost centres" which as you've seen here seems to be a cultural difference in how they are used UK vs US.

it's not to say that the reporting won't work as PNJ says, however, but almost all new installs we see have the department = cost centre relationship

@PNJ Thanks for the reassurance! Any pointers where I can find info on the other two options?

As an aside, if you use the NS commissions module - that can reference "class" as a reference point, it cannot do that with Departments
