Hi all! tl;dr version: know of any tools to automatically adjust the GL Impact from the physical Location associated with the item fulfillment to another Location? We'd like to have revenue and cogs go to a 'Selling' location (e.g. Sell from TX, but fulfill from TN), but natively COGS will go to the location associated with the physical fulfillment event Oof version: As part of our business, we are 'Selling' from one physical location (e.g. TX) and need to associate all GL activity to that location while fulfilling the physical product from another (e.g. a Distribution/Fulfillment Center in TN). The business requirement is that both the revenue and COGS go to the 'Selling' location, but of course natively NetSuite is using the location where the product was physically fulfilled from for COGS. During the sales process, NetSuite of course said that that could easily be modified, but now, halfway through, they are saying that it can't do that and that we can only report that the revenue and COGS are in the 'Selling' location, but of course the actual GL impact would still be against the physical location which fulfilled the product (so if you run the wrong report, you see the 'wrong' numbers) Natively I believe we'd need to do an Transfer Order to move the inventory from the fulfillment center to the 'Selling' location and then the 'Selling' location would be the location physically fulfilling the product instead of the fulfillment center, and everything would be fine (but it'd be a Transfer Order for every order) Alternatively we could do an adjustment to move the impact. But again, that'd be more complex and could make reporting difficult depending on when that adjustment happens... So I was wondering if there are any alternative ideas (or third party products which could automate the above). Hoping that there are other people who have distribution/fulfillment centers and operate similarly (have all revenue/cogs go to one 'Selling' location, but have the physical product shipping from another location)

This sounds more like you have a use case for a custom segment, and you are trying to do too much with a single segment.
The location should reflect where you actually store the inventory. Your custom segment would reflect the revenue and cogs correctly.

@KevinJ of Kansas Thanks for the reply! That's one thing NetSuite was testing out (and you can report on it using the segment and it looks fine reporting-wise), but they were saying the actual cost would still hit the fulfilling location on P&L regardless of the segment/assigning the segment. That's where they started to lead us down the 'you need to start doing JE adjustments in addition to the custom segment for reporting' road. So part of what I'm confused on is if they're confused 🙃

I guess I just don't have enough information about your company to adequately solve the issue - but I'd probably abandon P&L reporting by location in your case.
and do it all on the custom segment

Understandable - I appreciate the input and ideas as well, thanks for the replies!
