Is it possible to edit a cash sale after it's been deposited, to remove some items, delete their fulfillments, change them on the original sales order, fulfill those new items, and somehow apply a portion of what was originally charged to a credit card to the new items via an invoice or cash sale?
n
What is the business case for this? Mistake in entering the cash sale?
k
I would probably just issue an RMA, and receive the goods and create a credit memo and then a cash refund from the credit memo
g
client was pre-billed for their order, sales order was fulfilled, and their CC was charged. Now, two of the items are no longer a thing that's going to be available, so we want to get rid of any mention of them on any orders. Note - i work for a media company, so we sell advertising, not actual "products"
The plan is to "move" the items to other ones
n
Ok, so you want to reissue the invoice essentially without the "products"?
g
Kind of - want to remove them from the cash sale, delete their fulfillments, update the original sales order to have their replacement items, then somehow fulfill those, bill em, and have them paid based off the original CC charge - if that's at all possible.
n
I understand what you want to do, but we're trying to understand what exactly you're trying to ultimately accomplish so we can help out
So what I'm understanding is you want to replace the deprecated items on the SO/Cash Sale with new items and recharge the CC/fulfill the new items
What kind of items represent the "products"?
g
They are classified ads in our print magazine.
n
I mean are they non-inventory with the preference checked off for able to be fulfilled?
g
Oh, gotcha - yes.
n
Alright, in this case I would recommend what KevinJ recommended - RAM, receive item, issue credit memo & refund. Then, create a second "upsell" SO/Cash Sale, charge the CC, Fulfill That would be the cleanest way to do it in my opinion. Is that a viable option for you guys?
g
Thanks, and possibly. I'll relay that back to the actual accountants. I was just asked to "figure it out", so naturally Slack is where I ended up.
n
No worries, let us know if that is not viable and we can further brainstorm!
g
Will do! Thanks again.
