@Carel Yes Nov 19 is open @Jon Kears by standalone journal dated 1st Nov, you mean a normal journal with date as 1/11/2019 and posting period Nov 19? btw, we never actually use that 'defer entry' option as it was always left unchecked
j
yeah. But more interested in the period the system defaults to
we do that too, but our system allows future posting. I'm wondering if yours is set to always choose the current period. I'll see if I can dig out the setting
In Setup / Accounting / Accounting Preferences what do you have in the "Allow transaction date outside of posting period" option?
Or do you have an accounting period window set up?
d
"Allow transaction date outside of posting period" = Warn
"Enable Accounting Period Window" = Checked, "Minimum Period Window Size" = 1
And the journal you suggested to create was posted in Nov 19 correctly
j
not sure then. Sorry, hopefully someone else has the answer. Is it possible the period was locked for GL when the reversing transaction was created?
d
no it's not. the journal was created on 25/10/2019 so not possible for GL to be locked at that time.

Field help on 'Defer Entry' Check this box to make the reversal a memorized transaction that automatically occurs on the date entered in the required Reversal Date field. Clear this box to make the reversal an immediately entered transaction with the date in the Reversal Date field.
