Is it possible to restrict through roles of flag back-dated transactions in searches if you have not closed the last month periods?

@Bruce Damaren Could you rephrase your question? Are you asking if transactions in an open period can be locked? If that is the question, than you can use the closing checklist to Lock a period prior to Closing it. Otherwise, it may be possible to achieve something via scripting or Workflows, but that may not work perfectly.

This is more of a detective control. If prior period was not locked and someone backdated a transaction can you create an alert.

@Bruce Damaren A search cannot detect if a period is locked or not, but it's pretty easy to create an alert to detect any transaction dated in the prior month, or whatever time criteria makes most sense
