or any other tax service to collect sales tax.

SuiteTax is a framework...most people on this forum havent experienced it (I worked in it for 4 years)...there are quite a few tax engine providers (Avalara, Vertex, TaxJar, CCH, Thomson Reuters). Do you have any tax questions?
j
We are looking at taxjar but heard they were in beta. I’ve also looked into Avalara and hear a lot of good things about them
e
@Jboogie you can craft your own script to talk to TaxJar’s API

I guess my next question is do you care about being in SuiteTax or just need to collect and remit sales taxes. If the latter where do you do business? Some are great for US only and some are not
s
Avalara just announced that they are going to be a part of SuiteTax, which is good. That was a huge surprise when SuiteTax was first announced last year at SuiteWorld
c
Yeah I remember that...sales guy declaring they had an integration but internal docs showed otherwise...a bold move to lie to the public
SuiteTax has been around since 2014 but only recently got out of Beta
j
To be honest I’m not sure about taxes or anything related to taxes. My controller is just enabling features and wanting to enable suitetax in netsuite which is causing issues for me. I’m just trying to do my homework on what is best.
I saw the suitetax presentation last year at suiteworld but, I didn’t know it was out of beta
c
Okay I can clarify...your controller cannot turn on SuiteTax without a vetting process with the NetSuite product management team...its not ready yet for most customers
Honestly you probably dont want SuiteTax for another 6 months while they keep building on it
j
Thats good advice
c
Lots to consider if you move to that platform...it changes things in your account. If your controller is dead set on moving to suitetax have that person reach out to me.

I agree with @C_Billings, you probably don't want to be early customers of SuiteTax. Avalara is very mature on the NS platform

She keeps telling that we have to have suitetax regardless of the software we go with which I keep telling her is incorrect.

netsuite 1
Can someone confirm that 👆

someday every netsuite customer will be on the SuiteTax framework...its going to take a lot to force the customer base (they know it), best practice is to not rush into it...lots of parts of NS are not compatible with the new framework.

@C_Billings thanks for all your help. I hope I can get the message across.
