hi all - anyone integrated with Magento, how do you handle variances in taxes calculated in Magento from what NetSuite calculates upon import of the SO?
n
Hi @al3xicon We are integrated with Magento 1.x and use Avalara extension (developed by Astound) Not sure if you also use Avalara or something else for tax?
a
Thanks, client is using Boomi and does not use Avalara

But for us, we do have a current issue where there is a mismatch in tax between Magento and NetSuite. For our case, the issue seems to be out of date extension - we are still in the middle of the fix but Astound told us to start with updating the extension as we are using a very old version of the Avalara extension.

Why not sync Magento with NetSuite taxable using Boomi. For avalara both systems should use ava tax because transactions connects to Ava tax server and gets the taxes with all the tax tiers ie state, county and city. Note that in NetSuite you have to manually updates tax tables for the states each year.

Why calculate tax twice?

Is it not possible to change the value of the sales tax field?

@Sam-I-Am Not sure why exactly we started using Avatax as it predates me here. But based on what I have seen here, Avalara helps with tax filing for different US states. Maybe there are some other features which are useful to accounting team.

Yes! You can get automated state tax filing through avalara. Note that Avalara can be quite expensive if you have high volume of orders.
