Why are NetSuite pushing this now? I assume this is FarApp which was acquired a while ago.
m
It is FarApp
c
Why the sudden marketing push?
m
Gotta make that acquisition cash back. haha.

I assumed it died a quiet death. I'm wondering if they're about to pump resources into the product and challenge other platforms e.g. Celigo.
m
Probably. They have been pumping resources into WMS in the last few years, and has really become a competitor to RFSmart is many ways. I've also been on the FarApp side of things... meaning, we sold a integration for another app within NetSuite. So customers would be like... can you connect with X. The answer was yes, but you gotta talk to mightyd3. Made it a more difficult sell, but you know customers really want it. In my instance, our integration was acquired to make it an easier sell... and it did exactly that. NS acquiring FarApp now gives customers that easy answer to can you connect with XYZ. Although FarApp was garbage if you needed anything customized... atleast it does answer the question for basic customers.
I don't think Shopify Connector will ever be Celigo in any remote sense, but it will push and pull an order/fulfillment/product in really basic fashion.

There is a need to fill a niché where a smaller company is just moving off a smaller ultra-localized ERP - similar to what they did for the starter editions - this is that, but for integrations - mighty is correct that saying no, or 'please talk to these people as well' made it a rough sell for some
This also opens up for 'we are are also automating flows as part of this', which can really help a business case

This is FarApp which is not as robust as Celigo. Good example is a data flow that brings in orders from Shopify for wholesale orders. There is an app in Shopify to handle wholesale pricing but the FarApp data flow brings in a line for the item with the retail price and then a second line with the "discount" so that when the 2 lines are added up you get the wholesale price instead of using the price levels in Netsuite to determine the line item price on the order.

I agree its not a replacement for Celigo, but it doesn't have to be to remove that blocker from 'starter' type of sales

I sat in on a webinaire about this a short while ago. There was a distinct whiff of "Beta" about it and they are only making it available to NA customers initially, which only served to fuel that observation. I asked a couple questions and the stock response was "There will be documentation and you can always reach out ot us for support" Not exactly useful when asking a simple question such as "Will it handle refunds correctly where the customer has used gift cards as part or full payment?" 🤷‍♂️
