@al3xicon about the COGS account change, I hope this is not yet late. Just got back from vacation. @jays is correct if we only consider the UI perspective. In a nutshell, the system does not allow you to change the COGS account of an item or any account associated to an item when that account or group of accounts have balances in a closed period - It's more of an accounting internal control to prevent changes in account balances posted in closed periods. I'm not sure if someone here is already aware of this process but there is actually a way to change accounts associated to item records without opening closed periods. The process however involves backend intervention by NetSuite folks. To perform the process you will either need to call NetSuite support or file a ticket for this request. Here’s the information that they will need from you: a. Name of the items and the internal ids b. The specific accounts that need to be changed in the item records. Example:
COGS account
Income account
Inventory Asset account
c. The purpose for the change d. The name of the old accounts to be changed and its’ internal ids. Example: Old COGS account: 2100 Manufacturing : COGS [Internal ID:2345] New COGS account: 4500: G&A : COGS [Internal ID: 4356] Here’s are some important aspects of the request that you need to know:
The change will be retrospective and prospective in nature. Once the change is made, all balances to the old account from the beginning of time when the item was used will now be reflected under the new account.
The length of time it will take will depend on the number of items and accounts that need to be changed.
