I would assume it can only be changed on the parent because only the fields attached can be changed on the child

I swear this is a new thing. I for sure used to be able to set Preferred Location on matrix children up until a few months ago. Everybody thinks I'm crazy…

I’m pretty sure you did used to be able to do it But I’m not sure when NetSuite made the change tbh!
