Is the costing engine really slow? I created a single transaction today, is dated today and with average costing method. It took NS almost 10 minutes to finish running the costing engine.

Even for a regular inventory item with Average Costing method in one transaction dated today?

It gets dropped into a queue and processed in order. If there's other stuff going on - yeah, it can happen
