02/03/2022, 9:02 PMIf we have a custom record and we want to be able to use the Communications area for emails to/from all sorts of Contacts that aren’t necessarily associated with a particular custom field on the record, how do we achieve that?

02/03/2022, 9:22 PMHi Jen. On the custom record in edit mode, you can click the “Enable Mail Merge” checkbox. After saving, it shows up as a tab and you can email from it, and see communications. You can rename the mail merge tab to “Communications” if you want.

02/03/2022, 9:30 PMI achieved the above previously with a custom record type by adding a multiselect Contact field called “collaborators” and then behind the scenes, had 10 hidden ‘collaborator’ fields that the values from the multi-select went into, but this is not a good solution obviously, as it limits you to 10 preset Contacts.

02/03/2022, 9:47 PMYou can email anyone. It may not be on the list but you can bypass it by just typing an email in the email field….You don’t need the recipient field.
