We want to be able to show projects as columns in the financial reports such as income statement. Projects are not available in the Column filter. Has anyone tried to use a custom segment on top of the project records? The custom segment will have values that are the same with projects. I know it's double work because we will need to pick both the project and custom segment but we can probably automate the population of the custom segment in transactions anyway. Any pros and cons?

Yes custom segment is the best way to do this. I’ve seen it done due to Grant accounting requirements. we used a script to set the segment based on the project or task selected.
