Is there a way to automatically add items to a sales order based on a customer selected? One use case: We have multiple discount items related to allowances. Each allowance rate may vary per customer. For example, defective allowance is 5% for customer A but 3% for customer B. We want to automate this as much as possible. Can we use promotions for this?
c
depending on what you intend wouldnt a price level work and then assign to the customer
l
The allowances must post to a separate GL account and must be tracked separately. This is why we have separate item records for these allowances.
k
This could be done with workflow.
Though - I'm about 90% sure it wouldn't be able to be done with that until record submit
So you'd lose ability to confirm order total prior to saving the record the first time.
l
Yeah, I did try it and it seems that it only works if triggered at Before Record Submit. It also replaces the existing items instead of adding it AFTER the last item manually entered. I may need to add a logic for that.
k
Could you use SuitePromotions?
l
I'm not sure yet. I'm still reading through the Help Center. Do you have an idea if it MAY work?
k
Well, if you're giving them an allowance rate - which sounds like an amount discount - it should.
but I'm operating off of a thin amount of info here.
l
Yes. It's actually like a discount.
k
Yeah, I'd expect you can set up a rule so that it auto applies the allowance appropriately then and it hits the separate GL accounts.
l
Thank you! I almost finished reading and testing the promotions feature. Unfortunately, I can only have up to 30 active promotions that can be automatically applied. Is there a workaround for this?
k
You have more than 30 discount levels?
l
It's not only one type of discount/allowance. That's why we've got more than 20.
