09/27/2021, 9:10 PMWe have a Netsuite partner consultant building us a custom form for our customers, and the project managers are telling us that we aren't allowed to use any Standard items, strictly Matrix Items. I thought forms could accommodate both Standard items and Matrix items? Has anyone heard of this limitation for a custom form, or should we ask another consultant to help guide our conversation with our Netsuite partner? Thanks

09/27/2021, 9:26 PMCustom sales order forms can definitely show all items that are available for sale . They can be restricted to only allow specific item types (using a search that is then set in the "Sublist Fields" tab of the custom form). Did they give a reason why they only will show matrix items?

09/27/2021, 9:31 PMI think it's because it's a form with a user_event hooked script hooked onto it, with its own custom html, it was created with the assumption that our customers will only order matrix items

09/27/2021, 9:32 PMbut the project is behind schedule, the project managers are telling the inventory manager she needs to re-create all standard items with years of history as a matrix item with its own matrix template / matrix options list, where it only has one option. like sure it's doable for the inventory manager but seems like overkill to adapt to that limitation on a scripted form to begin with

09/27/2021, 9:34 PMI'd lean towards agreeing you, though hard to say without knowing the requirements that led to that. But, unless there's a really good use case, it's difficult to see a reason why a system would be pigeon-holed to using a single item type

09/27/2021, 9:44 PMIt also seems like, if this is a custom script, the dev should be able to determine the item type and modify the script accordingly. If there are years of history in these items, it seems a waste to move to matrix items just to appease the script. Something doesn't seem correct here
