Not really in my experience  I found the best approach was to make sure I have all my scripts and the XML of my workflows in my IDE and I search from there.  For saved searches, I actually wrote a “search searcher” tool that I can use to check to see if the field id appears in any formulae.

It’s very annoying.  I had to change about 14 ids over the weekend and there’s this low-level panic fluttering about in my belly that I’ve missed a spot where one is referenced.
