I've got two custom records with a parent/child relationship, trying to get inline editing to work on the parent record for the child record so it acts like a standard sublist but not having any luck. just wanted to double check the end goal is possible.

To which remove box do you refer to?, if its show remove link, that is fully enabled
and in regards to the link I have that as the current result, I want to be able to edit the sublist inline rather than have to add a new line by going to a new record page.

My results are equal to the bottom screenshot on that link rather than the desired result of the top screenshot, I am not seeing instruction differentiating the methods

What does the child custom record type look like

exactly as per the bottom image in that link, just static lines with edit and remove on, if using the new record button above the list it opens a new redirects to a new record page

i say try recreating your custom records
if it still fails, you can try sharing the xml for your records
