Has anyone found a list of the differences between Department, Class and Location (standard segments) vs. custom segments?  Our observations include: custom segments cannot be used in the column view for budget reports

That's the biggest one - department has some ties into the payroll module/suitepeople

location has more ties into inventory/FAM

custom segments are also slightly more limited in standard financial reports

All of that said, I'm a fan of custom segments.

Just adding other differences here:

Custom segment does not appear in the Other Deposits and Cash Back sublists of Deposit
Custom segment may not be used as a restriction in the Role record
CS cannot be used as filters for FAM reports.

Custom Segment seems to have some hiccups around advanced revenue recognition (with use on fair value formulas), though that may be a defect
