Now can't export the results of an ad hoc/previewed search via the UI... however I still can in a different browser.
I've tried flushing cache, relogging, restarting the browser.
Odd feeling I've been *temporarily shadow banned from making ad hoc searches, lol. Any corroborations of this happening?

Any thoughts on this issue?

*edit, it was an issue with the SuiteAdvanced extension, which has been fixed in the latest version

seems like you've ruled other possibilities out so I'd say your assumption seems pretty valid, I've never seen or heard of that though, and I have been known to skirt the line of api abuse myself at times 😉
