We've had an intermittent problem with web orders throwing errors for roughly one in ten orders by our customers for about 7 months. The dev got back to us today and said (paraphrased) "Well I tested it by making exactly one order and it didn't happen sooooo". JFC

I mean you gotta at least make the same order 10 times...

For what it's worth - intermittent ones are the most fun to solve
a
Oh absolutely, especially when you consider that there are practically no tools. Presumably the dev just gets an extra "lol nope" error from oracledb

Had a script - that simply wasn't sending emails, intermittently. Didn't know it at the time, and neither did anyone at NS support, but the spam filter was catching us. Took me and NetSuite over a month to figure it out, and I may have single handedly drove NS towards the unsent emails page. The worst part? Sometimes the spam filters caught us at 16 emails. Sometimes 17. Sometimes it let us send 30 without triggering. I had to literally document outgoing emails and incoming emails into an inbox - and then figure out what the message IDs were before they did that so I could get an explanation from NS as to why the emails weren't being sent.

I don't understand how netsuite sends emails from an arbitrary email address without out getting flagged by the DMARC Records.
k
Well, they do heavily encourage you to use DMARC/DKIM
mainly by virtue of their outgoing spam filters - which they have at least improved the documentation on.
a
stuff still gets flagged as spam anyway when you have them set up right, just less
k
Right. For the longest time NS was blaming the client's spam filters and the email server. I had to set up a dedicated email address with my firm, so then I could prove that all 3 separate domains weren't getting the same emails, so it was the outgoing email that was the problem.

My company's IT team is so incompetent that there are no DMARC records to begin with. Problem solved🤔
I tried to show them how to set it up but it was a lost cause. I have a coworker who continues to get emails from his own address threatening to "expose" him or some shit.
Like this one.
