06/28/2021, 9:34 AMRelease notes get provided weeks or months in advance. You need to read these to assess whether there's likely to be any impact. You can request a Release Preview account, which is a test copy of your production account with the update applied, so you can test specific concerns, or just do a general QA audit. As a general rule, you shouldn't have to update most scripts. It's only when deprecated functions are eventually removed that you need to make changes, which doesn't happen a great deal.
