Does anyone have experience with external payment solutions that integrate with Netsuite? We are looking for some way to collect payments in an automated way, using credit cards and preferably with additional options like ACH/bank transfer or other payment methods (Apple/Google/Samsung Pay, Paypal, etc.) We have looked at Solupay, but there are some limitations that make their E-Invoicing not suitable for us. We are considering Paystand, but want find a few other options to consider as well. Any recommendations, or good listing of companies that provide such services?

I am familiar with Paystand and another solution from SCS Cloud. What were the limitations with Solupay?

We need the ability to add a surcharge for credit card payments, but Solupay’s solution required editing existing invoices to add the surcharge line item. Solupay makes a very large assumption that E-Invoiced customers will be paying invoices in an open period, whereas nearly all of our payments are on invoices in closed periods. We have been with Solupay for over 2 years and they haven’t made any attempt to change that behavior, so we are going to replace them. They sold us a solution that wouldn’t work for any of our customers.

Yes, understood. I had a failed 12mo implementation with Solupay. I needed a directly connected EMV credit card terminal and Solupay could not deliver a truly working solution. I went to SCS Cloud who have an excellent dev and project management team of about 40+ staff. I am in Beta testing now. They do have an ePay solution and I know that surcharging is being rolled out. Thanks, I’ll add that to our list of considerations. We’re incredible patient, but Solupay won’t even commit to trying to change their solution, in spite of the fact they promised us before implementation that it would work for us (and they knew the details of our payment process). I’ll gladly consider a company that is at least in the process of improving their products. Solupay seems content to just keep what they have created and make no improvements. Their support is also some of the worst I have ever seen form any company. They have zero documentation of how any of their services work (literally none at all). It’s been nothing but frustration.

Also, regarding Paystand, their solution is a SaaS solution and they will want a fairly hefty monthly SaaS fee. The enticement is lowered CC fees and trying to move your customers away from CC to ACH and bank Bill Pay.

In all honesty, we’d be fine with that, so long as it works We’d actually prefer ACH or bank payment, but would like to give customers the choice of using credit card if that is their preference. We are mostly B2B, so ACH and bank transfer is not a problem for many of our customers.

Paystand then would be a viable solution although I have not experienced them directly. I do know that SCS Cloud had an issue with one of their clients and Paystand where 1,000s of Bill Payments got unlinked from Invoices which had to be fixed.

Understood. Very likely anything will be better than our current process, which is entirely manual (each rep taking over a hundred card payments by phone every day). We keep growing, and our team can’t continue doing things this way.

Wow, that IS painful! Let me know what you think of Paystand. If that doesn’t quite fit the bill then happy to make an introduction to Derek. SCS has been our ERP reseller and Pro Services provider for 6 years.

Will do. Thank you for the recommendation. We haven’t made any decisions yet, and want to consider as many possibilities as we can. We don’t want another Solupay debacle (we trusted their sales pitch far too much, and that’s partly on us)

I’ve been able to use Cybersource as a gateway. It’s a bit of configuration with keys, but it works great after that!

Are you using Cybersource for fully automated payments? I see they have a Digital Invoicing service, is that what you are using?

We use it for credit card transactions in Netsuite. It can also be used to integrate payments with websites as well.
Also customer payments through Netsuite Customer portal

So, our customer center implementation is running into problems, and that is why we are looking at alternate ways of taking payments
It’s entirely on our end, not NetSuite’s fault, but we probably won’t have customer center useable until next year at the earliest

I see. Well…. if and when you do resolve it, Cybersource works well. Not sure what you mean by automated payments. We used a system wher the customer could get email reminders for payments with a link to payment gateway and it could be processed by Cybersource.

by payment gateway, do you mean in Netsuite, or a Cybersource hosted gateway? We essentially need something outside of Netsuite / or that doesn’t depend upon customer center.
Today, customers have to call us as give us card details over the phone. So they can’t self-pay (and we can’t take payments outside of business hours when no one is on the phones)

Cybersource does not have an external payments page that integrates with NetSuite. You need a solution that will create all the relevant records in NS from the hosted payments page. Paystand and SCS Cloud can do that.

We've had a few demos with a company called Quadient and their FRM-500 solution. Might not fit your use case but it looks very comprehensive to us.
