Hi, all. Does anyone have experience on adding items other than inventory items to transfer order? I know it might not make sense first time hearing it, but we have some description items that would like to be added for the transfer order to have more indication. I notice there are options to select different types of items (inventory, non-inventory, service, and etc.) but it does not show the items when selecting to the type other than inventory items.
a
Have you tried to check "can be fulfilled/received" check boxes on your non-inventory/service items?
r
@April Wu Hi, April. I did check those options as we are trying to specify those non inventory items on fulfillment as well. However, it is still not showing at the transfer order.
a
@Richard Liu If that's the case then I guess only inventory and assembly items can be added in TOs. Curious what the specific reasons are that you need to put non-inventory items on TOs - there might be some workarounds to be considered.
I just looked in help center and its confirmed that only inventory and assembly can be added in TOs. the first pic is the navigation in help center, the second is where it specified only inventory and assembly allowed on TOs
r
@April Wu Thanks April. I believe there might be a workaround to achieve what they are trying to accomplish. I will most likely need more information out of them. Appreciated that!

Not problem and good luck!

@April Wu Hi, April Sorry to be back and forth again, but would you happen to have experience on creating transfer order to multiple destination locations? The purpose is just that if we have a from location and multiple to location, we do not need to open too many transfer order in the system.
a
@Richard Liu As far as I know, a TO should have just one destination location. If you could explain more what the team's trying to achieve I might be able to help you with some possible workarounds
r
@April Wu They are trying to reduce the number of transfer order as sometimes even thought the destination specified one location, there are multiple “sub-locations” under that specific location.
a
@Richard Liu Sounds like the team is struggling with locating the right TOs. I'd suggest to add a custom column field (with the name of something like "Sub-Location" on line items so that you can tag the lines with the sublocation - would this work?
r
@April Wu They actually do something similar right now with memo field but they are just entering the information by texts. However, when they are handling the case where the from location is A and to location is B, and there are multiple sub-locations C, D, E under B. Whenever they have transfer order to C, D, or E, they will need to create three different transfer orders for them.
a
@Richard Liu That's the normal behavior and to my best knowledge I've not heard a TO can be sent to multiple locations, so I don't think the number of TOs can be reduced, but we can take a look at how we can make it easier to fit their functionality demand. Are you saying they'd like it all to be sent to location B, then from location B to C, D, E? If that's the case then scripting can possibly auto generate sub TOs which are their individual TOs but will have parent-child relationship with the to-location B TO - does this sound like something the team can possibly benefit from?
r
@April Wu Yeah I think we are thinking about something similar where we will list out the sub location under B as a item field for users to select from
