I would like to create a custom sublist made of custom records on the transaction line level. Is this possible? It would ideally be something like NetSuite's built in Inventory Detail functionality, but I can't find any documentation on if that is something we can customize and create.

You can make custom records act as children of any record. You just need to have a field on your child record that uses the list of the parent record, and then check the box for record is parent.

sorry I'm trying to understand the solution 🙂 thanks for the response btw! So what here would be the parent and child record? I have my custom record, and I want this to be a sublist on Transaction Line items

@Siena there is a SuiteAnswers that explains how to make the Custom Transaction Line field. It’s not intuitive though but does work. In my case that worked, Field Type ‘Free-form text’, On Sourcing & Filtering, Source List is the Custom Table and then Source From is the field you actually want on your line drop down.

I’m confused about this. I know I could create a custom transaction line field but you make it free form text and then what is custom table?

@Siena the custom record you have already created. But maybe @Sandii & I are answering the wrong question. What is it you want to do with your selection? Maybe you just need a drop down list/record and not custom records. A custom list will give you a list of options which you can use on a transaction line.

So I’m looking for something similar to Inventory Details. I would like, on the transaction line level, a list of these custom records to be available. Not as a drop down/selection, but as a list sort of like how inventory details lets you see all of the subrecords

@Siena you would create the Custom Record (Record Types > New), then enter the actual records. Apply Parent relationship if applicable as per Sandii. Then create the Transaction Line field as per my suggestion above.

I’m struggling to understand your suggestion though sorry :/ why would I have a free form transaction line field? Source From would be my custom record type? And Source List would be...? I currently have the custom record set to be a child of Transactions. I can also make it a child of Items if that is needed for a transaction line field. I am not getting exactly what you are recommending though I’m sorry :/
When I go to sourcing and filtering, maybe I'm pickign the wrong source list but my custom record is not an option for Source From. I made my record a child of Item, so I set Source List to Item assuming it would now be a field in the list, but it's not.
I don't understand how sourcing would be creating a sublist in the first place though, isn't it just there to copy (source) information from another location? I guess I just don't get it.
