When I save a sales order, the transaction that is emailed to the customer is a preference set where?

On the transaction it's under the Communication tab. "To be emailled". On the Customer, look under the Preferences tab. "Send transactions via->email".

The issue is that the contact is being added to the to be emailed field also, and then the email is sent. Is this all still under preferences for customer?
