can i run a csv import to close a record? RMA, return to vendor etc??

if it's available to be imported, yes. By checking the closed box on the lines.

1) a line ID can be provided
2) the closed field must not be hidden/disabled on your form

so i need to provide a line id for every item on the record?

I know for a fact you can close Sales orders and purchase orders - I'm less sure about RMAs/Vendor Returns, but I'd expect they are pretty similar in nature.

Build a saved search that references the lines you want to close and it should be available to be done.

Test on small sample. Only map the fields you *have* to.
