Has anyone been asked or required by NetSuite to upgrade from Shared environment to one of their new tiers (Premium, Enterprise or Ultimate) because of the amount of storage that is being used.
k
typically storage isn't the offendor, but user count/transaction lines
r
In my cases it's storage. I have 3200GB of storage and shared limit is 100, and Premium is 1000GB
k
Dumb question here - but do you really need that much storage? What are you storing that takes up that much space?
r
Publications, Articles and Images for over 4M Web Items.
k
If you have that many items, it sounds like you're probably gonna have to upgrade.
I'm shocked performance isn't an issue for you.
r
We can certainly mover good portion over to AWS but havent had to in 18 years of using NS
s
That happened to us. People were wasteful and storing everything in the filing cabinet, even though they have copies of the files elsewhere. We have since created scheduled scripts to clean up old files so that doesn’t happen to us again. I don’t think NetSuite was enforcing storage before, but Oracle has definitely viewed it as a money grabbing opportunity.
r
Did they force you to upgrade to a higher tier
s
yes
r
From Shared to premium?
s
Which, we were fine with given that we also gained quite a bit of performance as well.
Exactly that, Shared to Premium
r
Can I ask about how much more is premium tier?
k
it'll depend on your existing discounts to some extent.

I wasn’t involved in the pricing discussions (I just know it was more), only the development of scripts to remove old files. I want to say it was less than double our previous cost, but that’s as much as I know. Various discounts could apply to affect that.
r
Thanks. Appreciate the info
s
We were also getting close on the transaction line limit, so the first upgrade was inevitable anyway.

Scott, what was your long term solution for storage? I'm assuming you aren't storing within NetSuite anymore?
r
What does total storage size (MB) include?
I am confused why ours is so high, issued 10,000 -> used 57,522
and our transaction lines are 100k used out of 200k issued
s
We didn’t need the old files in NetSuite, they were stored in our S3 buckets or S3 Glacier, it just amounted to training the team where to look for them.

The majority of clients i've worked on that have had this size of files all had a secondary solution like box or amazon for this exact reason.
