Is there a way to not show the internal id on a saved search?

Don't believe this is possible in the Native UI. You could create a suitelet to display the results and not add the Internal Id as a column

If you don't have Internal ID as a column, you probably have the "SHOW INTERNAL IDS" option selected in your preferences. If the Internal ID is always the first column of a search, you definitely have that preference set.

Interesting, I never knew that setting also impacted search results. Can confirm- if you disable the "Show Internal Ids" preference, search results will not have the Internal Id column by default.

It is a fun little hidden NetSuite gem 🙂 As an admin, I leave mine checked so I don't have to remember to add the column. The Internal ID won't show up for the end user of the search, unless they have the box checked as well (we don't typically have our non-admin users check that box).
