How are location and item location different?

location is the place and item location is a place where an item could be in inventory

Does item location also indicate that the item is like sort of manufactured in that location?

it could be. what is the context, are you building a search or report?

I'm importing inventory item data and I have two values for location, so I thought to suggest having these in the item location instead

I asked what's up with that and  our client said that they want to make sure that they indicate these items are manufactured in these locations they provided

Not having done an inventory import, I would imagine that the item location would be specified along with a quantity, so say you have 10 locations, you may have 10 quantities to enter for those locations.

i don't think the manufacturing bit of info is relevant for the import. you probably would just want to make sure you can do assemblies in those locations

Yeah that makes sense. The specification is to identify inventory anyway and not manufacturing
